How do I CHange my Clutch in my mustang?

I have a 88 mustang gt with a 5.0 and 5 spd. I need to know step by step how to change my clutch. thank you!How do I CHange my Clutch in my mustang?

The best thing to do would be, get a Hanes manual on your car. They are about 15.00 and are loaded step by step how to do minor and major repairs.
take the old one out, put in a new one, oh find a book that tel you how......
Disconnect the negative terminal of the Battery.. jack the car up and put on jackstands.. get special socket to remove the bolts at the rear of the drive shaft... carefull not to ding or dent the drive shaft as you remove it from the tail housing... remove rear crossmember and trans mount... disconnect clutch cable.. have a friend lift the clutch pedal upwards to release the racheting self adjuster mechanism while you disconnet the clutch cable... remove the starter... remove shift boot and shifter plate with shifter while in neutral.. remove transmission mounting bolts at engine block.. pull transmission to the rear about 6 to 8 inches while lowering the tail shaft at the same time and remove from vehicle.... remove clutch fork and release bearing.. inspect and clean area that the release bearing rides on... inspect fork fro abnormal wear.. remove pressure plate and driven plate... have flywheel resurfaced and install new pilot bearing/bushing... get clutch alignment dowel and reinstall in reverse order... be sure to tighten pressure plate bolts evenly and go around the plate several times so as not to warp the plate and ruin your clutch job
As long as you don't have aftermarket long tube headers, it's a very simple repair, relatively speaking of course. Simply start by removing the shifter by unscrewing the knob from the handle first, pull the dust boot off. Remove the handle by removing the two bolts that hold it to the shifter base. From underneath the vehicle, start by removing the catalytic convertor H-pipe assembly. once you have that removed, it's pretty straightforward. On this particular transmission, you can remove the gearbox, and the clutch housing separately, which makes the job that much easier. The rest is pretty simple with the clutch release cable and all. I'm assuming you are aware of how to center the new clutch disc and install the new pressure plate. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Go to the bank, get a couple hundred out, take it to a garage, return in a couple hours, pay for the repair and drive away. Listen, if your not sure about what your doing, you can screw it up and waste even more money for towing and the repairs and parts again later. You need to resurface the flywheel and install a new pilot bearing which requires specialty tools. Dont lay on your back all day cursing. Let some one else do it, no headaches, not dirty hands, plus you get a warantee if something goes wrong.
